A pal of The Minx visited for lunch, a highly-talented writer & player, once a member of T’s band. Pal’s professional life as a performer (in various fields) has gone, as has his particular music world, and Pal’s current focus is writing music, primarily for tv. In his former incarnation, Michael Levy (now Lord Levy of the honours investigation, cf this Diary for July 13th. 2006), was a leading player.

Hello, Rolando from Argentina here, yesterday i bought the ticket to see Robert live here at the ND Ateneo in October, so i`m very excited about it. Next week I will be at holidays so i`m going to listes as much King Crimson as i can.
If listening to lotsa Crimson makes Rolando a happy boy, then I am also a happy boy. But this listening will provide no musical preparation for the upcoming performances of Soundscapes with The League Of Crafty Guitarists in Argentina & Chile. If anything, it may generate expectations of the inappropriate kind. But, no doubt Rolando knows this already.

8:00 breakfast at gas station´s café.There are two coffe places near the office: one inside the front gas station, who criterion regarding the ambiental music is: the happyness of the clients is proportional to the rythmness, popularity and volume of our music. The other is a fancy bar managed by young people from the electronic environment. So, you could breakfast with loud dance music at 8:00 a.m.. In both I use to gave good tips. In retribuition of this gentleness, the person in charge use to low the volume, even change the music. Today, the change was abrupt so, three people from the kitchen appeared, in upset mode, wondering what happened. So, this answer the nature of the music in some hotels & bars: is the music that the people working inside want to hear to impulse they long stay.
This reflects my own observation, based on many years of my sensibilities being attacked by Noise Pollution Units around the world: music relayed in public places reflects the tastes/desires/wants of the staff, not the customers. Where the distance between the two is extreme, there is often conflict. A frequent manifestation of this phenomenon is a grumpy service provider, one resentful of a customer who might seek to have an environment supportive of their own interests. Today, I carry Noise Cancellators: not to bring in music, but to keep out inappropriate music.
